Daisy Chee writes on rampant animal cruelty

Animal abuse is worrying and is a terribly sad reflection of the level of civilisation within our society.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) in Singapore receives 350 reports a year of animal cruelty. This figure is huge when we consider the small population within this little island.

The rampant cruelty inflicted on voiceless animals in Singapore is outrageous and appalling. In recent times we have seen a Pomeranian being slammed repeatedly, on its leash, against a wall to its death like a rag doll. What an agonising death!

We have also seen eight rabbits being confined in a small cage by an owner to stop them from mating. They were packed like sardines!

It pains me to see these innocent creatures being treated in this inhumane way just because they are defenceless and voiceless. What an abuse of power by their human masters!

If anyone has any suggestions with respect to how we can stop this in Singapore and the rest of Asia, please send them to me via this blog.

Also, if you can help in any way, I would love to hear from you.
